Before adding a saved video to your next project
Check playback, sound, framing and project suitability before you start editing.
Play the complete file
Open the saved file and check the beginning, middle and end. Look for missing sections, unexpected freezes or a duration that does not match what you expected.
For an important project, review the complete clip. Finding a problem before editing is easier than discovering it after arranging captions, music and transitions.
Listen as well as watch
Check that speech is understandable and that the sound stays in sync with the picture. A video can look fine while containing missing or distorted audio.
Also check the output device and volume settings before assuming the file is faulty. Headphones, speakers and Bluetooth devices can make the same playback seem different.
Check the framing
A portrait clip and a landscape project have different shapes. Decide whether you want to crop, add background space or change the project layout.
Preview the actual crop before editing further. Important faces, subtitles or graphics near the edge may disappear when you fit the video into another aspect ratio.
Use an appropriate source
If you own the recording, use the original file when it is available. A social-platform copy may contain compression, burned-in captions or a different resolution.
Enlarging a low-detail video does not recreate missing detail. Match your expectations to the source rather than relying only on an export resolution setting.
Keep a separate working copy
Preserve your original and edit a separate copy or project. Give exports clear version names so that you can return to an earlier result if needed.
Before publishing, confirm that your intended use is authorised, including any music or other material contained in the clip. A successful download is not confirmation of publishing rights.
