Download failed? What to check first
A practical way to distinguish link problems, source restrictions, file limits and connection errors.
Read the exact message
Different errors need different responses. A size limit will not be fixed by repeatedly submitting the same link, and a private video will not become accessible by changing browsers.
Note the message shown under the downloader. It is more useful for troubleshooting than simply knowing that the download did not work.
Check the link and original video
Make sure the link is complete and points to the intended video. Open the original page to check whether the video still exists.
If the original requires login or says the content is unavailable, the downloader may be unable to retrieve it. Public visibility also does not guarantee automated access.
Check the limits
The current social-video limit is 500 MB for the final file, with a duration filter of up to 10 minutes. Direct media from approved hosts has a separate 25 MB limit.
A request can also reach its processing timeout. File size, duration and preparation time are different limits; passing one does not mean the others will be satisfied.
Distinguish a source error from a save error
If preparation fails before a file becomes ready, the issue may involve source access, formats or server processing. Check the displayed explanation.
If a file becomes ready but the browser transfer fails, check your connection, browser download list and device storage. Try the existing download link while it remains available.
Know when to stop retrying
Private, login-required and DRM-protected videos are not supported. A source can also temporarily restrict requests. Do not attempt to defeat those restrictions.
For a temporary connection problem, try again later. For access restrictions, use the source platform’s official download or export features where available.
Send a useful support report
Include the platform, exact error message, device type and browser name. Explain whether the failure happened during preparation or while saving the ready file.
